Bruce, this is a great way for fisherman to share they're stories and fish catching methods without all the red tape. I'm glad to see a site without all of the yuck that can happen on other sites. It's nice to have a clean and honest place to talk fishing. Thanks Don Hartman
  • Glenn Sampson(Pegleg)

Hey Bruce, This is a great site. Glad Jack Harms told me about it. As soon as we kick this cold front we're havein I might be able to go catch sumthin worth talkin about. lol

Hey, I used to live in Grand Island and can remember my dad taking us to some of the I-80 borrow pits to train our yellow lab. Wish I would have fished them, (or remember it if we did). Seeing some of the photos on your site has got my blood up. Guarantee as soon as we get open water around Kansas City, Mo I am going to drag my dad (my best fishing buddy) out and see if we can put a few in the boat. Haven't seen many the like of the monsters on your site, but will keep hunting. Dad is a retired fisheries biologist and semi-retired woodcarver. I'll try to find a picture of the bluegill I carved from wild cherry and post it. It's big, but inedible. Great site!

Thanks for the info regarding the adding of the sunfish to the pond. I think I have much more to consider than I originally thought. Very useful info. Thanks!

  • Matt Curry

Thank you for creating this site Bruce. I grew up fishing for bluegill, and it is a tradition i've passed on to my 10 yr old son Talon. We fish for many species of fish together, but bluegill fishing is the best for us. Talons largest "gill" is 10 inches. Sorry we don't have the photos, but stay tuned.
  • Rick Fuhrmann

thanks for the welcome , saw the website in infisherman and thought i would check it out
  • Michael Perry

Thanks for the welcome. Glad I found this site. Love to bluegill fish.
  • bluegillonafly

Thanks for the welcome, too. I love the photos, some of the most enjoyable times have been watching my little people hook up a bluegill and see them dancing and hopping like a frog on a hot rock - they are so excited and proud!!! I also love staking out in a float tube 30 ft away from reeds on the lee side of the lake and watching those crazy gills doing acrobats and enticing them out from the edges for a laughter filled fight!!
  • Stuart Melheim

Thanks for the welcome I don't have alot of time to check back to often it seams work is always getting in the way of my fishing and just looking around the web site.
    Have a great day.

I surely admire your website. I have one for my sharpening book and carvings. However, it is no way as good as yours. My website address is: http://www.lwmose0.tripod.com.otceBOOK.htm The format of your site would be ideal for wood carvers. Would you have any suggestions on how I could create something like yours? I wrote mine in pure HTML more or less as I was learning HTML. I have other HTML editors now that are better. For another site on wood carving, go to http://www.woodcarvingrendezvous.com Had to search my digital photos to find a suitable photo of myself.

Thanks Bruce. Im workin on the pic. Bluegills are the best thing that ever happened to the sport. A challenge at times to catch and so so enjoyable to eat. My Grandkids enjoy every aspect of hunting the Bluegill and sharing time together. Thanks for such a Great Website.
  • Bruce

I'm retiring soon and hope to get back to fishing for my favorite fish on a regular basis.
I'm hoping to find someone in the Seattle area who can point me in the right direction for lakes with Big Bluegill and the best methods for catching them.
  • Jeremy R. Mayo

  • John Sheehan

Really enjoying this site since finding it a few weeks ago!
Been telling all my fishing buddies..would love to see more of the nations state reps involved .I feel lonely as a New Jersey man!
  • Bruce

Thanks for the welcome. I have often surfed the internet looking for Big Bluegill fishing advice and comeraderie. You have done a good thing. I also think there are more of us out there than you would imagine. You may have just created a "Monster". It will take me awhile to navigate around and digest everything available but I just retired yesterday and getting a bunch of new knowledge from fellow members will be a labor of love. I hope to be able to add something in the future.

It would be helpful if there was an easy way to identify the folks in my immediate area (by city/state) to converse with for locations to fish and special techniques for our lakes.

    Thanks again,

    Rat City Bruce
  • Mark

Yes, and it was the frist time ice fishing and the frist drop in the hole. Ten minutes into it I caught the two for frist ever ice catch. It was pretty cool.
This site is pretty cool, I have been looking for something that was for blue gill. I saw this and now I think I am hooked. Hope to share some more photos soon.
  • John Sheehan

I'll figure out how to enable that hopefully.Great site Bruce ..you and Aaron created madness here ya know!
  • Dudley Goodwin

Hey, thanks for the welcome, certainly finding a lot of excellent information on here ,that will help my fishing.
  • KEN BROCK THE FISH DENTIST

This is a great sight. I'm looking for someones to converse with in southern Indiana.I do know we have a Bass Pro store in Clarksville, In. Maybe they need to be advised of this sight? Also,I have many tricks for catching gills and redear. BUT,I would love to know MANY MANY MORE. After all this is what is all about!!!!!!!!! I go to catch fish, not ride in a boat allday. I'm not a banker, I fish deep water, timber and creek channels. SEND ME A BOAT LOAD OF TRICKS AND I'LL CULL.
  • IceWarriorGill

Thanks Bruce! She put up quite a fight but fell for a red artificial worm fished on the bottom in about 6-7 feet of water near a submerged brushpile. Caught, Photographed, and Released (100% with all my large or Citation fish). Tight Lines!!!
  • Tom Beauchamp

Thanks Bruce, The fish don't get that big here on Priest but they are abundant. Most summer days will load up with 50 - 100 or more tight lining around the marina off my boat, even more if my grandson is with. Used to fillet all by hand, but now use electric knife. Still takes a long time with large catches, but they eat so well! I get people to eat my fried fish that don't like fish, and come back for seconds. Guess that says it all. Tom
  • Tom Beauchamp

As this site grows you might want to do like like crappie .com has done and add a search feature allowing people to pose a question and pull up previous posts. Works great for learning.
  • Rudy Reynosa (True Shot)

    thanks man.
  • John Sheehan

Here's that link again. http://www.johnsheehan.net/news.html The other one didnt work for me.

Thanks for the review of my music. You are a good man! Sorry didn't mean to take your mind off of Bluegills for a minute!
  • John Sheehan

It really is a funny and clever review though and its goin up on my website along with Bill Musky Mod's Led Zep comparison.Wow reviews from Fisherman! My favorite people!
  • Jeff Soto

    Hi Bruce,
A couple of weeks ago I ask you if you had any more photos of that beautiful world record Bluegill replica mount that Cecil Baird made?
You replied that you had to go and tape a TV show, but would try to find them after you got back... Not to bug you, but did you find any and if so could you put them up on the site or email to me?
    Thanks Bruce and good fishin'
    Jeff Soto
  • Jared Kerr

Thanks, I saw the site in In-Fisherman figured I'd take a look and I am amazed at the size of some of these gills you guys are catching. I never really thought that people raised gills in ponds like that. I mostly fish huge lakes but the ponds look like they really produce.
  • Dave Bartels

No problem I need to download some pics from my sd card anyway and would be happy to post some cool pics. The redear was caught (and released) last may and I lost two more almost the same size within about ten minutes at a large strip cut near home.
  • trout whisperer

    thanks.........tw
  • Ed Shandera

Thanks Bruce. Big fan of yours. I have had the priveledge of seeing you land some monster wipers at Red Willow. If I understand correctly. Didn't you help TJ Hudson set up his ponds. Tj and I have been friends for quite a while. Thanks Again for the message.
  • Ed Shandera

love to join you guys sometime. I have to go to Omaha tonight, but maybe sometime soon.
  • Bad Bad Man

Thanks, Bruce. How do I connect with other central Iowa members re. pond fishing ?
  • James Feasel

Thanks for the welcome. Saw the site was mentioned in In-Fisherman magazine. I have poor dialup service that will limit my participation, but looking forward to doing what I can. jim

So the coolest thing has happened. It was a full moon less than a week ago. The day after I walked in the living room and both of the bulls in my aquairium have instantly changed colors over night. Ones Solid black with white tips, the others has the brightest chest. Theres been constant pinging in the tank from rocks being slammed into the glass. I look inthere today and BAM! I got 2 lil fish beds in my tanks. IM GETTING TO WATCH THIS HAPPEN! BLUEGILLs ROCK! The gills are starting to show there colors on the creek and I caught a shebream with eggs in her this week. Next full Moon Be ready for the pics to start FLOOOOOOODDDDDDDDINNNNNN IN! ITS ALMOST FISHIN SEASON WOOOHOOOOO.

    Take a kid fishing.
  • Ben Winter
