First Fish on the Fly in '16

Caught a few fish on this old rig. You can see a Tooty bug hanging out of his mouth. I could see them hitting the top but they wouldn't hit a floating sure. the would take this slow sinker.

    common for them to act like that in the spring keith.i think they are eating emerging insects this time of year.keep your tip near the surface and watch your line.the first fish i caught on a fly i was stunned that it actually worked.try to get surface bugs near bushes or under trees.like a bug that fell in.

    Thanks guys, Jim it doesn't have a name just a number of 1225. My father in law gave it to me last fall. The reel I just picked up at antique store Saturday. Its a 1958 model.

    I love the mottled coloring of some bull gills from some waters, minus the banding patterns!

    Thanks for the nice comments Guys. I'm learning to catch bluegill in different ways not just warm water surface strikes. These fish were 3 to 4 feet deep and 15 feet off the bank. Letting the bug get down in the strike zone takes a while then I used a short choppy retrieve.
