Box of large dragonfly nymphs.

1st batch. Need to practice on the legs but I think they will catch a fish or two.

  • Leo Nguyen

Unless you're plan on making the legs so life like that they can walk on water, and be used in the museum as a decorative piece under the Realism Exhibit, I believe you already master this pattern and its effectiveness.

  • dick tabbert

Not yet Leo I figure about 100 more and I'll have it mastered.

  • Leo Nguyen

Looks like you need to record yourself tying these flies. The now..and the mastered. Once you start fishing from heaven 30 years from now, you better pass on the knowledge of these buggers to us new retirees.

  • Allen Morgan

Those look good to me, Dick!

  • dick tabbert

I think heaven may be a lot sooner than 30 years.

  • dick tabbert

    Thanks Allen there coming along.

  • jim cosgrove

those legs are fine ,rubber legs are cheap and easy but don't move like natural feathers.i can see these getting slammed on the weed edges next spring.you are really a good tier dick

  • dick tabbert

The legs are goose biots Jim.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

MAN ARE THESE GREAT DICK !!!!!!!!!!!

  • jim cosgrove

goose biots are a good choice,i thought they were pheasant tail.biots are a lot tougher

  • jim cosgrove

what's the body made from dick?

  • Jim Gronaw

Great work! I bet they'd catch anything!

  • dick tabbert

I think the rubber legs are tougher but the biots look so much more life like.

  • dick tabbert

Jim the body is made with dubbing. I don't use wire to wrap but I use 6lb test fire line instead to wrap the body and give it segmentation. Then I go over the top with clear cure goo and set it with a UV light.

  • dick tabbert

Sorry Jim I forgot an important step I went down each side of the abdomen with lead then wrapped that with lead again. Flattened that with plies to make the body flat then wrapped with the dubbing.

  • dick tabbert

The small dragonfly nymph I made last year worked good for me I match it out from one I got out of the my pond. Since then I found larger one's so I made these to replicate them. I hope they will work and I think they will.

  • John Sheehan

Looks like a swarm of great looking bugs

  • dick tabbert

  • dick tabbert

Wow I came across this today no way.

  • Allen Morgan

What is that, a size 30?

  • dick tabbert

Allan its a 32. They call it a 32 special. Way to small for my aging eyes.

  • Leo Nguyen

Okay..I got good eyes, but holy smoke!! How the heck you manage to slap anything onto a 32?! I have a hard time as it is with 24.

  • John Foro
