some stuff i've been working on

  • dick tabbert

Looks good it looks like a minnow.

  • jim cosgrove

yea dick, the underbody is lead tape with mylar tubing stretched over.like a zonker upside down tho.those gray hackles should give a swimming motion and with the hook riding up it should be easy to get up and over snags.that is the cool thing about flies is they are designed to do certain things not always to just look like a bug.

  • jim cosgrove

some new colors i am mailing out today

  • dick tabbert

Mike looks like a great fly would be interested in seeing one before the fish got to it. Good job on the bumble bee though looks like there's some more fish in er.

  • Rick King

  • klrbaer

    Nice job on your spiders.

  • Rick King

I add lead wire on mine so they sink and use use a small piece of double-sided white Duck tape on leader for a strike indicator.

    Pink Pearl Chenille Wooly Bugger

  • dick tabbert

Rick you seem to have all your bases covered.

  • Rick King

Thanks Dick - Like I mentioned it been 15 years since I tied anything and I only have to april to figure it out. Because all I will be doing next spring and april is fishing. So I've been posting pictures and using BBG pro tiers as a sounding board to help me improve.

  • Allen Morgan

Here soon I'm going to have to stop fishing, and switch into Production Mode and start stocking my boxes with flies for next year.

That is, if I can rip myself away from the fishing this Winter......Last season I fished all Winter long, playing with the Saugers.

  • Rex Robinson

Rick that pink wooly bugger should be lethal on any thing that swims.  Looks like it would have super movement in the water.

  • dick tabbert

Rick I think what ever your doing its working. I'm seeing some good looking flies so I don't think you skipped a beat.

  • Rick King

    Thanks guys

    Rick you got the gift.

  • Rick King

    2 sinkers and 2 poppers

  • Rex Robinson

Rick, these look great!  Especially like the two with the chartreuse bellies.  Your box should be filling up fast.  Just ordered some supplies myself.  Trying out some of the UV dubbing soon.

  • dick tabbert

Rick do you use them for droppers to. Don't know a lot about droppers but looks like they would work.

  • Rick King

Thank Rex, and Dick I have never really used dropper either, but I'm looking in to it. I've been out of the fishing business for years and I cant beleive I let it happen.

Check out my birthday present. last week I got this very sturdy set of shelves with bins. its got big easy rolling wheels and the bins tilt out or come completely out.  No more plastic boxes!! it holds most of my fly tying materials and easily rolls out of the way when not in use. my little corner of the garage hasn't been this organized in years.  $90 well spent at Sams wholesale club!

  • Rick King

That really looks nice - where was it purchased, I think I would like to look at one.

  • Mark Stine

Rick got it at Sams wholesale club $90 and worth every penny

  • dick tabbert

    Great storage Mark

  • Steve Totten

This past weekend the waters were a tad choppy and my fishing partner was complaining he couldn't see the floating bug he was using.  After watching his bug for a while here is the cure I came up with.

  • dick tabbert

Done a few this evening getting ready to clean out the dining room (fly tying room) for Easter. So I may vary well be out of commission for a short. Give it till the end of the week between the Doctors and dentist this month is pretty well taken care of.Was doing a Polecate and like my normal self I forgot the legs. But did remember at the end so it wasn't a total loss.

Made one in olive and one in chart.

  • dick tabbert

#6 hooks, chenille, plastic eyes, rubber legs, marabou.

  • Steve Totten

One of the advantages I have here, I have a whole room to tie flies or build rods or set up camera equipment.  Not that I know what I'm doing with either one but it's fun trying.

  • Mark Stine

those look pretty buggy Dick, good ideas! sorry you have to share the dining room, hope the withdrawal symptoms aren't too overwhelming!

  • dick tabbert

You know the withdraws won't be that bad now that the ponds opened up and I can work on some of my other projects.

  • Allen Morgan

Dick, those do look rather buggy!

Don't feel bad about having to share the dining room.  I have to tie at the dining room table.  Luckily, I have storage space in the kitchen for my totes of tying materials.

  • dick tabbert

Allen I also use the dining room table but luckily for me the wife can't get around to see all the glue I have all over it. I guess next I be having to get a new dining room suit. Thanks for the compliment I guess I have a couple days left I can tie.

  • dick tabbert

Here are a couple 1/16 oz jigs I made out of some new yarn I got from jo ann fabrics.

  • Donald Schmotzer

Dick.......those look good, how does that yarn hold-up when it gets wet ? Has a nice "buggy" look to it...........Don in SC

  • dick tabbert

I don't know how they hold up just tied them and haven't used them yet. Got the yarn last night I figured it would be leggy if I brushed them out sorta like my shrimp. I think I could use these for scud instead of dubbing, That would be so much easier. Maybe I can try and tie a couple up this evening. Thanks Donald.

  • Steve Totten

I heard Blue Gills like crickets, suppose these will work?

  • Earl W Story

Very nice looking cricket. Awesome idea on that whole pattern.

  • dick tabbert

OK me and my sidekick got everything moved back in the dining room.My sidekick she won't let me do anything unless she's there.

My fly tying stuff keeps multiplying on me I guess I had best get my but in gear.

  • Greg McWilliams

WOW DICK!!!!!!! Are YOU opening up a TYING STORE!!!! You have MORE STUFF THAN I DO!!!!!!!

  • dick tabbert

Greg I don't know about that I don't know what you have I just have to get my butt in gear and learn to use what I've got.
