Thanks Allen....it's a fish you'll never forget if you catch one...a violent event to get one of these guys landed! Good times though......

Nice!  We have them here in OK, but only down in the extreme SE corner of the state.  I have yet to catch one.

A big and Ugly crushed my pink & white tipped curly tail.......For only three pounds this Bowfin took me around the boat several times before the surrender.....He's back in the Pasquotank because there must be a good balance as nice as the gills are getting........

Ok, I've mentioned Spoonbills a couple times.  I've never targeted them, but have snagged several accidentally.  I've only landed one, a small one about 5 lbs.  The others have all been around 40 lbs or so, and either break my leader, or manage to get the jig off of their body.

Here's a video I shot last year.  The guy in white was using a light pole, fishing for White Bass / Sand Bass.  He snagged a Spoonie in the 40 lbs class.  He actually landed it, on 8 lbs test mono.

I have another video of him, captured about 30 minutes after this one, where he snags another Spoonie.  Only the second time, he lost it.
