Hey folks, It's been a while since I or anyone else has posted here.  I know that we've had as much messed up weather than just about everyone else, but there have been a few good days in between.  How's the fishing?  Been out a few times myself and caught a respectable amount of gills in 1 to 1 1/2 pound range.  Hey Tim and Dave, any luck with the mold making and handpouring your own baits?  I'm still willing to give some tips if you're interested.  Let's try to keep this group moving.  Nick Holt, Columbus, Ga.

Hey Bruce,  Thanks for adding this group.  I went up to my friend's 3 acre pond Sunday, stayed around and hour, and came home with 7 gills and crackers weighing a pound each.  Here around Columbus, Ga., we have quite a few good private and public ponds where bream can easily go a pound or better.  Nick Holt

Me and four of my friends are getting ready to go on a four day trip to Elizabeth City, North Carolina. We hope to come home with a mess of fish. This is an annual trip we take every year and look forward to it all year.

Like the rest of you good folks, I'm ready for some stable weather too. It's now Feb. 26th and I'm ready to shake the winter doldrums with some decent crappie fishing followed by some gill action. Just found out that the last weekend of the month is supposed to be cold and wet!! Enough is enough!! Hope to hear some good news from you all real soon. Nick.

I wish I wasn't on call this weekend. It is so nice outside in North Alabama for a change. I'm starting to get a twitch in my cane pole! Lake Logan Martin is calling!

Hey Folks, Haven't seen much action on this group's page in a while. Shoot, I haven't contributed much myself either. No excuses from me. Wish I ciuld say I'm retired and could spend the summer mornings fishing, but that's not in the cards. Anyway, anyone been catching some nice gills lately? Here in Columbus, the lakes are now getting back to full pool, and the crappie are slowly beginning to wake up. Caught one nice 1/2 pounder last weekend and hope that it will be a start for the bigger slabs to start moving in to feed toward evening. The temps here are supposed to start dropping by the middle of the week so all things considered, we should get into them. Anyone else chase crappie during the Fall and Winter? If so, what are your favorite baits and rigs? Iwas able to post some pictures this evening, and show some of my handpoured plastic panfish baits. If any members are interested, I'll pass some along. No expense, and tell me your favorite colors. This offer is for all BBG members only. Take care all. Nick.

Hey Bruce, This is Nick Holt from Columbus, Ga. Would like to join your group of Southerners for some friendly advice and conversation. My question is how late in the year do most of you gill fish? Around here once the weather cools down the gills seem to become inactive and the crappie fishing picks up (which doesn't hurt my feelings at all). I don't have a boat, so it's hard for me to hit deeper drop-offs and edges. Nick

Went to my favorite pond today. They were up under the willow trees. Tied on a 1/32 renosky minnow and tore them up. Caught 37 in about 2 hours. One weighed 1 pound 6 ounces. Having gill fillets tonight. Sweet meat. I've got to figure out how to post pictures on here.
