PATTERN-RIGGING-PRESENTATION for Bluegill

So you had a great day on the water… you caught many gills or sunfish and you had a specific rigging and a presentation you made to nail em. You are one proud angler! Share that information with us. Describe the conditions the rod, reel and line and how you presented the bait to them. Start a discussion and post pictures of the event. We are interested and that’s why we are here. No rigging is to simple or complex. Some days simpler is better. We are all varied in our skills as bluegill fisherman from the novice to the masters. Even if it’s just sharing your favorite rod, reel and line combination… anglers ask for this information all the time! We could all learn something new.

Caught 30 fish ,6 species today in three hours on two rigs .1) Floating Jig head with a single split shot 8" above crawler piece/hook. 2)Homemade spinner Rig/Gold Nungesser spoon tipped with crawler piece . Top Gill was 8.5" on the Floating Jighead . Fat 14" Bass most of the other fish  and 4 Crappie took to the Spoon/Spinner Rig.

This is the two inch Keitech 'Easy Shiner ' tandem rig I've been catching  Crappie up to 10" , Bluegills at 7" Small yellow Perch and White Perch to 9" at my local lake from shore  .I tried it at another lake and got a bite off by a pickerel. I stepped up to a tandem using  3" baits ,I am anxious to try and plan on making a tandem 4" version also. Heres a 3" tandem :

20141110-

It seems I have been given a small window of opportunity here… temps near 50 and a  slight breeze. I have to be totally honest here … I have never fished gills in cold open water… ive always in the past concentrated on the walleyes bass etc. this is when the biguns  are caught. To be this focused on gills and to follow this new founded addiction… I have you guys to thank for that… lol.. and thank you by the way!

So I havnt been on the water in awhile but I predict a pattern of fish on the deep weedy flats, lethargic but still hungry. Im going to start the day drifting slip bobbers with or without tandem rigs. Live wax worms and gulp or loaded in my car. So lets find out!

Good fishing
