Creek fish'n is the bomb, fun way to fish the summer heat,always shady and cool.
Red Breasted Sunfish, Smallmouth Bass , Largemouth Bass, Suckers, Chubs, Pumkinseed, Bluegill, Fatheads, Bullheads, Stocked Trout ,Rock Bass, Crappie , White Perch , Yellow Perch, Pickerel and Walleye I 've caught these species in the creek around where I live in NENJ .Love the variety ! Have yet to catch a Carp though and would love to.\
Does anyone wade or canoe/kayak any of the following Middle Tennessee creeks or rivers: The Duck River, Buffalo River, Harpeth River, Piney River, Jones Creek, Yellow Creek or Turnbull Creek? If so, I would love to get together and plan a fishing trip. I honestly believe that Middle Tennessee's fisheries are among some of North America's most pristine and best.
McScruff,
You must be from Louisiana. I am not from down there but I have heard them called "choupique" before. That is also my favorite name for them but most people around here call them grinnel. I do not keep them but I heard they are a delicacy down there.
Apparently, so is bowfish. ;^>
Yeah, I mean bowfin...
Yep. Grinnel is slang for bowfin.
Grinnel = bowfish?
I love creek fishing here in Central Arkansas. However, we call them bayous here. They are full of bream, crappie, bass, catfish and huge grinnel. Those grinnel love a bright colored Crappie Slider or Beetle Spin. If you can' t make it to the coast to catch redfish just latch on to a big grinnel. You won' t have to worry about driving he will pull you down there, back and leave you with nubs if you try to lip him. Great fish!
