I second the Richmond Mill suggestion. Never fished it but have seen pictures of some Hogs out of that place. 2-2.5lb gills are a great goal but really hard to find. The best luck I have had in NC for coming close to the 2lb mark were rarely fished ponds with healthy bass populations. As for lakes, I lived in the Lake Norman Area for 7 years and did really well on Look Out Shoals (the next lake north of Lake Norman) I would consistantly catch 9-10" gills there with a few pushing the upper 10"…

It depends on where you live. I live in the Upstate of SC, and the foothills streams that I fish a 1 lber is huge. Now further towards the coast that is average. If you are in Western NC 2 1/2 lbs is HUGE
