Double uni knot works great for me in tying leader to Fireline or Power Pro. At least 10 revolutions of line and at least 7 revolutions for the leader and slide it slowly together.

John, I experimented with Power Pro a few years ago (2lb dia. 8lb test) the line had one major drawback...it was simply too limp and I would encounter untolerable tip wrap at the end of the cast....switched to standard Fireline and then Crystal, when it comes to light braid nothing beats micro-dynemia.

I tried Fireline when it first came out. (Has it changed any ?)... I didn't get along with it... but I am prepared to try it again. I noticed there are a couple of different types of Fireline and Braid... Is there a particular favorite... and is a surgeons knot the way to go when attaching the leader. ?
Any Info appreciated...
I used Tectan exclusively for years. I had to quite about 8 years ago because of that exact same problem--UV just beat the heck out of it.

I generally respool after every trip anyway so it wasn't always an issue.

Very castable stuff.

I tried Tectan a few years ago.... Great line out of the box... BUT... I found it didn't handle UV very well at all and I had to change the line much more often than usual. The other problem I had was knot strength... it didn't seem to 'Draw down' properly... but that could have been me.
I also use Fireline chrystal and trilene XL in 4 lb. and like Fireline 6 lb. in smoke color but would like to try Power Pro in this line class. Anyone have any experience with with ultr light Power Pro? They don't sell anything lighter than 8 lb. Power Pro around here which is plenty thin but I would think their 4 or 6 lb. test would be geat. Power Pro 10 lb. and 8 lb. line for bigger species cannot be beat in my opinion.

I use Trilene XL green line for years! Buy large spool is cheaper. Change 50 to 75 yards and use fresh line every time I go out to fish!

I would try Maxima 2 lbs line and it sounds good to me!

I also use Bass Pro Shop Excell 4 lbs line and still good for me!

back to back uniknot seems easier to me and i've never had a problem with it. i use it for leaders and for adding that last quality 50 yards of line onto my reel spool.
