Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I tie my own slip knots for bobber fishing. When using heavier stuff the smaller knots created using 20lb backing tend to go through the bead. Want to try using heavier backing but  $15 plus shipping is costly when I'm not sure it's even going to work for me. If there's anyone that could throw 3 ' or so of line in an envelope , I'd appreciate it. I'd be happy to send you some of the knots.

Might try mono to tie bobber stops. It was used before Dacron braid. It is best suited to spinning reels, in my, experience but it is an alternative to consider.

I agree with Mike. When ever possible look for braided, not twined. Embroidery floss in the finest grade comes to mind here. Dental floss was once used for tying float stops, too. It could work today, just as well. In seasons past I also use #8 mono in fluorescent green. That worked pretty good.

TO use mono, though, you need to be able to tie a bobber stop "on the fly", so to speak. In my use, I don't pre-tie them on a plastic sleeve - they are done on the spot. I just keep a small quantity of the mono on hand.

Thanks to all.
