Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I like the idea of a place where bluegills is the main topic of discussion. I’m from Irons, MI and although I spend more time trout fishing these days, my first love is bluegills.

I do some ice fishing but only on occasion. I have caught some great bluegills through the ice, these days I leave that fishing mostly to the great Dave Gentz. It is easier to catch big bluegills off the beds, I like fishing for them in deep water in early summer.

Look forward to the discussions.

I have attached my favorite all time bluegill picture of my grandson and a 12 1/2 inch bluegill.

This picture is phenomenal.
Irons in upper pen. Michigan?
I fished Bond Falls Flowage a lot of time when I visit my mother in law. Some very big Rock Bass! Biggest Rock Bass I caught from there is almost 12"! Also many northern pike. Some nice size bluegills and Pumpkinseeds that I caught from a small lake but I can't remember name of lake. Its near Paint Lake.
Iron River, Ironwood are in the Upper Peninsula, Irons is about 25 miles east of Manistee in the lower peninsula. My wife and I just retired, at least she retired to our place on the Little Manistee River the source of almost all steel head in the Mid-West. It is also a great brown trout fishery. My office window looks out over the river. I am a lucky man.
Oh!

There's so many "Iron" in Michigan made me confusing!

Good luck in your area and let us know how you are doing on big bluegills!
