My best rig, for me, is a G-Loomis SJR 720 6' MAG-LIGHT EX-FAST ACTION with a mounted Abu Garcia cardinal 5 ball bearing, infinite anti reverse, ultralite series. I use 2# to a max 6# test fluro carbon, with great success. If they breath on my jig or minnow, I got' em. Can hold it all day and rarely have tennis elbow.

Everybody have personal favorite rods and reels. Here's what I like very much .... 7ft St. Croix ulta-light rod and Shimano Symeter 1500 - 2500 openface reel. I also use Bass Pro Shop Micro-lite 7 ft 6 inch Ultra-light rod. Its reasonable price but LOT of bluegills for me! Same reel Shimano Symeter. I like 7 ft Bass Pro Shop 7 ft LIGHT rod for 6 lbs test line on live bait around covers. Do not use tiny reels! Good size reel like hold 120 yards of 6 lbs test line that you use 4 lbs test…

I really love my 7ft okuma Celilo light action (i believe it to closer to ul action) Paired with a bps royal express (10 Ball bearings!) Ul spinning reel spooled with 2lb mono dia 10lb spider wire braid. I just caught a 17.2 in white bass with it yesterday while finesse jig fishing for bg and crappie.

Thanks for the compliment, Mark! This particular rod is a 5' super-ultralight, lighter than any factory rod that I've found; it's rated for 1-4 lb. test. The center section of the handle, where the reel will sit, is made of wood, the only rod I've seen like this, to make the rod more sensitive. I also make longer spinning rods with spinning guides and handles but made on fly rod blanks, for people who fish a lot with live bait. I'll send you a friend request so I can give you more info…
