Actually here is a good one. Last year I started indicator fishing . The idea is to tie three or more indicator yarns on a line spaced about 6 inches from each other. Nothing in the water so zero drag on the line. Perfect vertical fishing with zero resistance. By watching the line you see up / down but also left / right takes. Hooks ups increased by 25% and my fishing was more active.

the above video was shot with a balsa slip bobber style Thill float with a 5-6' Cilelo UL rod ,6-0 braid easily capable of reaching fish 20-0' down and nearly hit my target at 87 ft with a 10 mph cross breeze. it was a pretty good cast. :)

yes ... i like the rocket bobber panfish and UL models... they are heavy and cast a mile... much further than the balsa bobber at 87-0'

I have to agree for a fixed float you can't beat the rocket bobber! Do you use the ultra mini ones or just the panfish series?

Everyone should have to spend a 23 degree afternoon casting a slip float rig excessive distances. After the first few casts, your guides ice up....than the stopper knot ices up... When you haul back and sling for the middle of the pond and there's a severe THUMP as the frozen knot slams into the guide rather than sliding through, and your line bounces back and entangles itself around your rod 13589 times, or worse yet your line snaps under the shock and your rig flies off....been…

That's when I decide that rods with guides featuring 1/8" openings were not suited for slip float fishing. and definitely not during cold water periods.
id like to get together... im…tag:bigbluegill.ning.com,2015-04-15:2036984:Comment:6017192015-04-15T18:03:55.906ZSlip Sinkerhttps://bigbluegill.ning.com/profile/SlipSinker

id like to get together... im not really having any problem with any knots right now but thanks... i use slip bobbers all the time and tie my own slip knots rather than buy em. if you watch the video above and the comment below that i state i use 60 lb braid as the best material for going thru the guides 20-0 to 30-0 dacron as second choice. my knots go fluidly thru the guides and don't have any problem at all.
