I hope they’re successful…….bobwhite are an all American bird…….nothing better than whistling Bo while quail on a Fall morning to get the adrenaline going…

PA is working to reintroduce quail, and as far as the snipe go, I've heard there's a few. but I haven't seem any in a long time.

Interesting Bruce, the biologist was amazed at the volume of birds we encountered, often seeing dozens of birds in one hunt which is apparently rare now……we legally harvested up to 800 birds from 1974 to 1982, throw in 500 quail and 200 snipe and it was a busy but enjoyable winter……our season opened the first Saturday after Thanksgiving and closed on the last day of February………..great memories over three AKC champion Brittany Spaniels….

Woodcock, once abundant in PA, is now endangered. When I was growing up in the 60 & 70s there were plenty of them. I don't know what caused their decline.

Humbling Mikey -D……..I’ve spent so many years trying to master the rivers I fish but I still learn a lot every year…..I really enjoy the challenge of catching fish on each particular trip……this effort has allowed me to flourish on the Albemarle…..I look at it as unlocking the day…..people that go with me are amazed at my determination…..

Indeed John…..

Thanks Bruce…..I kept hunting and fishing records throughout my school years as well, my dad suggested it and I’ve even supplied my records from the 1970s to a biologist recently that was studying woodcock, a game bird that 80% of the North American population of birds wintered in the mild climate of Louisiana. Even here at bigbluegill.com, I look back at previous years for the same date for references….it’s amazing how many times nature repeats itself when conservation is followed…..

Absolutely the Journals and Photos are priceless information

You know, I've been keeping a fishing journal for years and it's proven valuable many times. No matter what kind of fishing: trout, pan fish, bass, etc. it goes in the book. I include all of my ice fishing trips, too.
