Yes Bruce…..Before the railroad and trucking…..they transported everything……some were full when they sank…..now they’re just obstacles in a river that has a lot of history…..

Interesting. Were they transporting industrial products?

Yeah Bruce this area is unique…back in the 40s and 50s a lot of water transport was done in wooden barges….the area where this photo was taken has at least six wooden barges that were damaged and sank in shallow water…..during Hurricane Hazel back in 1954….if you look at the lower left hand corner of the picture the green plants are actually growing out of the exposed wood from these barges some 60 years after they sank …interesting because they’re fish magnets but your line gets cut frequently if you fish right into the wrecks….just sharp metal edges everywhere….but I stop often and give it a try…..lol

Amen Carl……I would leave school back in the late seventies and go straight to my aunts pecan orchard, kill gray squirrels and. Fox squirrels that threatened the pecan crop…..my shotgun would be in the window rack of my truck parked at school……….

In the 60;s when I went there;; gas was 20 cents a gallon !! and today;;s school wont let you bring a gun to school;; heck; during the hunting season;; everybody brought guns to school; and we went hunting right after class;; including the teachers !!  se to be some cotton fields close to the school; we lined up;; marched in;; jumping rabbits;; maybe even flush a few quail !!

Durability has never been a question with your baits Tooty and the # 6 is the perfect size for the waters I fish.....
