Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

After letting the creeks recover from heavy rains...my son-in-law and I tore them up this afternoon on the Freak (1/32) and Freak Jr. (1/64)

Great answer Jeffery;;  as you said; it's a personal thing;; it's also my oppinion that when I use jigs;; painted ones work better for me. In one area close to me;; all the local fishing guys have always said;; if it ain't red;; it's dead;; meaning ;; you have to have some red on it somewhere or chances are you will get skunked.  Thanks for your information on the green darted and marsh hawk;; interesting to watch them

Hey Carl.....thanks for the question....as always the different jig variations come down to personal preference.......for my money and confidence in brackish waters it is definitely a "painted" jig hands down......for me it's simple, find a dragonfly in the wild and you have every color in the spectrum including their heads.......and for them,  it's all about camo so they have survivability in the marsh........most insects have a very short life cycle which means many will turn into prey items for birds, animals, other insects, reptiles and finally fish........many anglers look for birds for a clue on bait in the area........give me an area with heavy dragonfly activity and I'm going fishing, and with a "match the hatch" offering stand by.......Just yesterday  I told Joe that with the recent increase in humidity the dragonflies will be very active in this region......we located an area and fish on right away.........I even have an insect net and I will catch some dragonflies to color match......I learned this during a school project in Louisiana and employed it ever since......for example search "images of Green Darner" and "Marsh Hawk", it's remarkable how good this works.......I will try to document some of this during the summer and share.......Remember, it's just one man's opinion as you asked........Jeffrey

Jeffery;; question for you;; what is your oppinion;; on using painted jigheads ?? Do you catch; just as many on unpainted jigs;; do; some colors of paint; out do; other colors ??  You can get white; red; green; black ;pink as well as many other colors;;  reason I painted these in different motted colors;; throw them something they havent seen yet;; plus;; it just might look like something they like to eat.  Your oppinion please
