As an afterthought, I started to fish freshwater because I have nephews and nieces who have only fished fresh water. This end of day releasing of the crickets came to me as a way to lighten up a bad day of fishing. No matter what happens during the fishing trip, it is a no fail positive way to top the end the day.

I admit that i am a novice with freshwater fishing. Even I have had some success with catching bluegills with minnows and crickets. I guess it is the kid in me, but I get a kick out of putting a criket on a hook and plopping him on the water with a small bobber. I vary the length of the line under the bobber. Sometimes at the end of the day,I have some crickets left over. I toss them on the water and watch as they swim towards the shore. On alke Cahoon in VA, you can see the gills and whatever else attack the crickets. Sometimes that ocurs very close to the shore. I look at it like I am feeding the future BIG Bluegills of the lake. LOL. Well I don't want to take the crickets home ya know. :-)
