Similar but much smaller . And no weight except for the hook . Most are tied on a Mustad 3366 size 12 , but lately I’ve tied some on a size 18 hook for micro fishing . Gillchaser

Gillchaser, the fly you describes sounds like Bully's Bluegill Spider.

No worms or crickets for me . I can usually outfish bait with my flies . And 99.9% of my catches are released , especially the bigger ones . Gillchaser

I used a size 12 drowned wet spider I tie up . Basically a chenille wrapped hook shank with centipede micro rubber legs tied in just behind the hook eye . A lot of time they hit on the fall or right after the first twitch to let it fall again . The micro centipede legs are very lively . Gills love anything with legs .

MANY CONGRATS ON THE NEW ROD !   COOL PIX SHOWING OFF THE ROD N BLUEGILL------  WHAT TYPE OF FLY; OR JIG ARE YOU USING ?   NOTHING WRONG WITH USING JUST A HOOK N WORM EITHER !
