Well I never came close to that 4# 3 oz. but glad that's possible here in overtaxed NJ!

With the recent comments on perch, I looked up the record on yellow perch..... it was set in New Jersey in May 1865 at 4 # 3 oz.  That's a lot older than the 65 year old BG record that Slip Sinker had asked about a while back.

Herring when available but the shiners are more available in the Winter .

Must be some big perch

I like to partially cut the head at the gills and then hook a pin min through body and dead stick. For some reason the perch at my lake don't like them very lively. Ya'll use shiners for perch huh?

I thought that secondly . I put minnow heads or tails and lightly jig a spoon  thru an ice hole( a Hus or  Rattlin Flash)and catch Crappie that way .Of course you jig the bait right off the hook if you jig too hard . I always save my dead shiners and salt and freeze  them and look for dead shiners on the ice  from the Perch fisherman that did the afternoon or morning bite before  I do the late afternoon /evening bite .I try to get those dead baits before the Gulls do.

That was actually some kind of bait fish in the lake that got snagged. Some people tip them in the winter with minnies but it messes up the action of the bait.

Great Doug , glad you got into them . Looks like a heavy bait you got there ,are you tipping it with a shiner there?

Hey John, this is the vibe lure. They work great both jigged vertically and casted as well. We were casting them shallow, for pre spawn walleys. Also work really well for crappie.

Is this your Walleye Lure? Pal ,Carl Hendrix gave me one of these blade baits and I suspect Walleye and Smallmouths might take it ripped off bottom in deep rocky shoal areas. What experience do you have with these lures Doug?
