Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My second time to get one of these, on a mini Rat L Trap this time. I'm never ready for the big stuff when it hits, and it's always a mad scramble. I almost let this one flop back in the water!

only thing i have heard about these; is they reproduce by the hundreds- if not by the thousands and will attack; and eat  just about everything.  still- i wouldnt mind catching a few  of them myself!!  LOL!!

Carl, yes, there is a bit of controversy.  They are an invasive species, "top of the chain" predator.  I think most of the states that have these fish have a "catch and kill" policy.  Luckily, as I mentioned, they are rather tasty....

i would love to catch many of those

There's for sure a lot of drama about them. They're an invasive species, and people worried that the bass would suffer.
I smoked the last one on the grill, and that was pretty great.

What'd you do with it?  I hear they're really tasty.
