So how do you prepare them before you grill them, and secret seasoning or anything.

I like to grill fish as well.

I've grilled them on the grill( that the way I eat them)
Cricket and worm, cricket mostly. Ya I catch 6 gills for every tilapia I catch.

Have you tried to just scale one and fry it up or are you a fillet only type of guy?

I hope the kids get them they will have a blast.

I can't wait until this time next year so my girls can pull some big gills out. They are 6 & 3. Plus like I said plan to stock some Tilapia as well and if I can get them to just .5 or .75 pounds I will be happy. But of course woudl prefer to get them to 1+ pounds before taking them out.

You still usign crickets to get them or have you had luck with anything else?

My fear is that I will not be able to keep the GSF and BG of the bait long enough to get the Tilapia to bite.

They were 6" and down. Two bags full. I've taken about 6 to 8 big ones. Caught another one last night about 7" didn't feel like cleaning him so I let him go. Got plans on grandkids coming over this weekend.
Tipapia hunt will be on.

I plan to stock some Tilapia next year as well, just trying to decide what type to stock and trying to find some place I can drive to get them.

4lbs does not seem like that many fish, do you remember what size they were when stocked and how many you put in?

Also about how many have you taken out so far this year?

The pond, never got anything over 6" from the creek so far. Next year, they will be bigger as they didn't die off this summer.

Just remember the tilapia breed like rabbits. I stocked 4lb in my 3/4 acre pond and as you seen they're growing like weed. Catch the big one for the grill. Trap the little ones for bait when fishing for bass. Good luck on getting your fish back

Sharon
Are these from the pond or the creek?

Rick, I stocked the existing pond in 2004 when I bought my weekend cabin. SEPM suggested 1,000 CNBG and 140 cats. I have put in minnows and crawfish. I had BG smacking the water at feeding time and caught several cats over 4lbs. We had a flood and I think I lost a lot of larger fish to the adjacent 14 acre lake. I am trying to get back up to speed.

I have been feeding and the fish are starting to figure it out. The aerator is working good. It runs from dusk til dawn. I will check the water temp next time I go up there. I plan to stock Tilapia in the spring when the water warms up. Then I will see where I need to go from there.
