Taking kids fishing

It is always a pleasure when you can take kids who have seldom if ever been fishing, and put them on top of a good school of bluegill. I knew when I left the house this morning that it was going to be a day when I didn't get to fish myself. Even the father of the kids who were with me was as inexperienced as they were. I had to show each of them how to hold the pole, bait a cricket, and remove a fish from a hook. Within an hour you would think they were all seasoned fisherman to hear them talk. The little girl was great, and out fished both her dad and brother, and had no problem telling them so. This is a family from my church and the father who is a proud hard worker is currently out of work. Seeing the smiles on their faces, the laughter, and the appreciation made this whole day worth while. What made it even better was that our seniors were meeting at jefferson springs park near the boat ramp for breakfast at around 9:00 am, and we were able to swing in and have a nice meal with them, then return to fishing to finish filling my cooler. Tonight the whole family is coming over for a fish fry, and games, Wii bowling, and I will send enough fish home with them to have several more fish fry's. God has truly blessed this day.

Went with my son in law and oldest grandson to his "other" gramps pond last week. I saw the term "perch jerker" on here not long ago, refering to gill fishermen. Boy did I see one in action. I was trying to take pictures and duck at the same time. Flying fish everywhere. He had a ball with both his granddads. Take a kid fishing, you'll come back with more than one!

I had a chance to take Jose and Radda fishing again yesterday on my day off. Jose had dropped off JP at 6:30 for a trip with the youth group, and so was at my house around 7:00 with Radda. We hit the lake and began to fish, only this time I was fishing also. My plan God willing, was to catch enough fish to do fish for our monthly pot luck lunch with the seniors. The weather was perfect, and the fish were hungry. Between Jose, Radda and Myself be put aprox 150 fish in my cooler and live well. We even took a break around 12:00 for some food, swimming, and a boat ride. Then the dirty work came, took us about 3 hours to clean all those fish. I was never so glad to see that last fish at the bottom as I was yesterday. Now this morning I've got to run to Kroger and get enough of the breading mix to coat the fish. When we were done cleaning fish I had put up 7 qt. freezer bags stuffed with fillets. I have done this fish fry for our seniors several times before, and they always ask me when we are going to have fish again. Well today's the day. God bless you all and thanks for reading all this. Tom, I do not say this very often. But you are a blessing yourself. A magnificent thing you have done. I myself actually got started fresh water fishing because by neice and nephew had never fished salt water. So though i am the novice, I take them to catch bluegills. Each year when they come now, the first question is "when are we going to catch some fish." It is a wonderfull thing to see a kids face when a fish is hooked on thier line. A positive experience if there ever was one.
