Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Continues to be tough on the Albemarle.....mild hypoxia throughout the Eastern portion of the Estuary and a 14 to 17 degree loss in temps...

Thanks Slip........I hope you have a great 2018 as well........we are edging closer although we have the threat of winter precipitation tomorrow!  Yuck

20180320-we probably have a good week to 10 days before any open water in the natural lakes... the reservoirs in some areas are open but water levels are to low to launch.

good luck on the start of your season

North Carolina has some very productive lakes Slip but I rarely visit them as I have so much fishing territory within 50 miles........the conditions leading to this last event haven't been recorded locally since 2001.......Late February was so promising with surface temps at 63 and fish in a foot of water but this rare string of Noreaster storms followed by sustained west winds has brought us to a halt......96 percent of my included pictures on this site were taken from brackish tidal waters.........the fishing will be ADDICTIVE within days of our first warm-up so we stand ready to POUNCE........

20180319-i hate these transition times... many times a year my favorite reservoirs get riled up with the weather... cloudy chocolate brown water with visibility just inches ... i turn to a couple smaller natural lakes... are there any such lakes that you turn too temporarily in such conditions.
