Jim, i have been fishing a lake close to home that has proved itself to have large bluegill and red ear. they have a 15 fish limit on the lake. i am having trouble catching a limit. all of the fish are 10 inches or better that i catch but i cannot find any numbers. the lake is deep with steep drop offs. just wondering if you had any suggestions?

Cool - fishing has been really good right now. Losing a lot of jigs, because of the stumps and the reefs we are fishing, but the pay off is worth it. Been catching some big BGs in between everything else. Can't fish crawlers here, for the REs, because you will get CCs and Bass. Been watching the Bass chase trout down. Some guy caught a big striper on Saturday fishing for trout.

I can only fish for a few hours in the morning now and that is if someone takes me - because of the meds I'm taking. Me or Jim haven't fished the late bite in a long time - which I think is better. We caught more big BG in the afternoon.

Come on down - we should have real good fishing for another 4 weeks. Lake is closed on Tues & Weds now - state park, no budget. All you need is air fare (Ontario airport) - you can crash at my house. Could try some night fishing for cats & crappie also.

Need to get Pat & Bill out here - they would go crazy here with the spoons.

I have an appointment this week to determine if another surgery is going to help. I'm still off work for another month.

You can probably get enough stuff for a couple of articles....

Hey Jim.  I LOVE to fish Piney Run for just about anything - it's just the lake is really picking up steam as a good LM and striper lake so the boating crowd is aweful!  You can really pull some nice gills out of 20 feet or so of water the pretty consistantly.  My kids love it!  I used to have a few 'secret ponds' to go to when i was a kid but times have changed and now I take my 4 kids primarily on Liberty.  Harder to find the bite there for gills and everything else.  We try.  Great time of the year upcoming - good luck out there.

That will not be a problem at all. I have good data for everything including the fishing reports. Our rivers are beautiful and North Carolina does a great job with providing public access too include handicap friendly whcih I feel is awesome for those folks. I will include the website for all Public North Carolina Boat Ramps as well as public piers and parks for bank fishing. More to follow soon.

Jim I'm putting together a chart and a narrative of the last couple years for the Northeast North Carolina region and I will then work out getting it to you for an initial review. Then I figure I can answer/edit things as needed. Thanks again for considering my region and look forward to assisting in any way I can.

Jim we catch White Perch upwards of two pounds here in Northeast North Carolina. I had two over a pound today out of the five I caught. The state record is 2 pounds 15 ounces and we all believe that it can be broken in the Albemarle Sound region. Tasty little fish and I caught the fish today on crickets while fishing Gills. Thanks for the question.

I truly believe they are Jim. Its a little intimidating to figure out the miles and miles of river systems around here. What works in one doesn't work as well in another. But I feel that fishing 12 rivers and associated creeks gives me a great shot at some awesome Gills. Today was a perfect example. The weather was terrible last night and into the morning! I have places where the bite completely stops with a northeast wind not to mention a passing cold front. I told a neighbor @ noon I was going to try an area I had been watching and it paid off. I caught the fish pictured today in the NOON DAY SUN with temps in the low 90s. Thanks for your previous comments as well. It can get confusing but there are several Little Rivers in North Carolina and I fish the one in the Northeast. Your son was probably down by Goldsboro. I have never fished Atkinson Mill Lake but here good reports of quality bass but no feedback on Bluegill. It certainly seems like it would be good, not far from Richmond Mill either.....Good chatting and I really enjoy your knowledge and information.

Thanks for your comments Jim. We have been doing good up shallow against the flooded cypress the entire month of June. Its amazing how many big largemouth bass hit crickets in these Northeast N.C. rivers. I enjoy your comments and photos Jim. Good luck on the water.
