Now that makes sense, i knew about how during spawn they change colores especially the males, but i never thought about water clarity being a factor. Thankyou, Tony for clarifying that for me:-)

Fish from clear water will often be darker than fish from muddy or stained water. Also, bluegills may vary in color at different times of the year, most noticeable in males during the spawn.
