I've got this one spot along the Appomattox River where I have caught an incredible amount of different species of fish. They are: Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Bluegill, Redbreast Sunfish, Walleye, White Perch, Chain Pickerel, Channel Catfish, White Catfish, and Yellow Perch. That's an incredible 10 species at just one spot! Further downstream I have also caught Fallfish, Smallmouth Bass, and Bluehead Chub. Well, I made it back to Big Bluegill! Last year I just didn't have much time to fish due to other obligations. This year should be different though! Wishing everyone a great season!

Best year fishing for me ever. To date I have caught 19 different species - the most ever for me. I am off of my Spotted Bass kick that I've had the past couple of years and into the mighty Bowfin. The Bowfins are running wild this year! Seems like the Gars are plentiful also, even though I have not caught one yet. Of course I can always rely on the old trusty Bluegill anytime my heart desires....
If anyone wants a slight change of pace from the usual Bluegill, Channel Catfish or Black Bass outing, head on down to the blackwaters of Georgia and Florida and you will find loads of Warmouth, Spotted Sunfish, Bowfin, and Bullhead Catfish.Great day at the rivertag:bigbluegill.ning.com,2014-05-11:2036984:BlogPost:5150572014-05-11T09:15:12.000ZBen Seayhttp://bigbluegill.ning.com/profile/BenjaminMichaelSeay

Schools of Bluegill and White Perch were fighting over my bait....literally. Was catching them so fast didn't even have time to take pictures of all. Caught a Bullhead at same location - thought it was Black Bullhead, then realized that the chin barbels were white, so I believe it was a Yellow Bullhead.

Hope to do some fishing this weekend. Haven't decided on where to go yet or what species to target. Will it be a Smallmouth roundup, a Bowfin bonanza, a BillyGar bruising, or another chapter in the Rocky saga?

Went Longnose Gar fishing last night and had a blast!. Because of their narrow mouths these fish are extremely hard to hook and they are MASTERS at stealing live bait. Got skunked, but still had fun because of the challenge.
