Well no luck getting any out yesterday.  Even though they were the only fish feeding on the pellets.  At least there are still some alive.

Not sure where the BG and CC were at, thought they would been the ones feeding.

Let me know when we can get together as you settle down into SD. With the gas prices on the rise towards $5/gal, meeting up often won't be a good thing for my fishing budget. LOL For now, Salton Sea tilapia is not something you can eat a cooler worth. 3 to 5 per person is more than enough per month out of that water due to tissue's deposit of pollutants.

Speaking of float tubes, do yourself a favor and trade the ODC420 to the FC4 LCS if you can. I've been wanting to trade my Nevada U-boat for the FC4 as well, especially with the winter months are coming. I hate sitting in water. I rather be out of the water, as I dangle my legs in the water to kick. A pontoon is for me to travel long distant in large open water, but it's way too cumbersome to haul all those gears just for a few hours outing. I rather hit a small lake to relax as I remaster my fly fishing techniques again.

Cooler full of Tilapia? Leo, I think Thuy's going to want to adopt you as her brother if I bring back one of those :-)  The Salton Sea has sure changed from the seventies, when I first experienced it as a kid. A few years ago I googled the Salton Bay Yacht Club, where we had a family dinner one night when I was 10 or so, and was really disappointed to learn that it's just a ruin today.

I'm looking forward to doing some fishing out in the IV canals, too. I only did it once or twice, but had a great time. Caught some bass, some gills, and a 20-inch flathead cat that was delicious.

I fished Sunbeam Lake on one of those trips, nice little place. Always thought it would be awesome to tube it, so that's on my list now that I have a tube.

Speaking of tubes, to veer even further off topic <g> a couple months ago I was in BPS and happened to see a Fishcat on display and I thought it was so much better designed than my ODC 420 that I wish I'd bought an FC  instead. Maybe I'll sell this one and trade up :-)

JB - tilapia is also popular as the fish mentioned in Matthew's Gospel of the Loaves and Fishes.

Over the centuries, they have been called St. Peter's Fish, lending credence to the notion.

JB, don't worry. Once you're in San Diego, we'll visit Salton Sea during the non-smelly/low-smelly month to catch those bugger for you. I know where the best spots to catch and eat them without worrying about the pollutants killing us. You'll have fun catching them by the cooler full.

I'm with Leo on this one, I'd be happy to help you clear the tilapia out :-)

I've never caught one, but they're a staple fish in all the Asian markets here in California.  Very tasty!

I hope to get out and catch a few tomorrow.

Man, I would have been your bestest neighbors to help you out. We'll be feasting on those tilapia, and you'll be enjoy them if I get my hand on them for gourmet cooking.

Well in Oklahoma we do not have to worry about these fish surviving so that is not an issue.  Like I said many of mine probably took a hit on those cold days we had.  I wish I had ordered the net I wanted to try and get as many of these guys out before they all die off, at least the ones large enough to eat as the LMB will not eat them and the CC may peck on them for a while.  Not really up for feeding turtles and coons but that is part of the deal.  Pretty neat tool to use and come winter I will be curious to catch a LMB or CC just to see how well they have been feeding.
