Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

First fish of the day was this 14.25 in crappie that took a 1/64th oz Jimmys Skinny Minnie with a crappie nibble at 7:30 AM. Cool!

Dick , the best fish I've run into ,since the fish kill this summer ,were some 10" White Perch ,and one 12" Yellow Perch . The 12-14" Crappie ,decent Bass and larger numbers of 10" and over white and Yellow Perch I had in my sights last year and two years ago are not on the end of my line any more .I see this as a reason to give my home lake a rest and fish elsewhere and yes I'm upset .

Glad your starting to pick up some fish on your local lake. Usually after a fish kill the bigger ones die 1st. If it is a bad fish kill it can get into the midsize and really bad complete even killing the smallest of fish. Don't sound like you had a real severe kill but any fish loss is depressing. Hang on John them little and mid size fish will grow who know maybe better than ever.

Sure thing Jim and oh, BTW used your Craft hair (squirrel tail looking ) jigs last week and got plenty of White Perch and a few Crappie .I tipped the jigs with crawler pieces . Unfortunately it was at my home lake after a fish kill and though I found decent (not great ) numbers they are coming smaller now .

Thanks, John! You know, I thought about it today...when we use 1/64th and smaller, it's all bluegills, but if we upscale just a little bit larger profile then the crappie take an interest.

It's all a matter if you want 50  9 inch gills or 10 crappie, with two of them maybe being giants. Might upscale more in light of your recent success with the larger herring options on your wateers.

Good idea...and thanks!
