I'm always humbled by this estuary and all it offers.........this is a bonus fish and the state is aggressively managing  for bigger fish in greater numbers......they have already determined that they are eating juvenile shrimp and crabs in this brackish water.....they exist in all regions of North Carolina with the exception of the mountain region.......some opinions by biologists include RBS exceeding a pound based on their current growth rates.......that's exciting.......I now have three different locations miles apart from each other which have produced several years in a row so patterns start to develop.......

Magnificent fishery there ! I see the big ones in the small streams I get them in at only a thick 5-6" .They

get bigger when they end up in the connecting Lakes. Maybe up to 8" that I've seen and caught .

Thanks John! I'm excited to see how big these guys can get in the Albemarle.....They were stocked in 2016 and I'm catching and releasing fish over eight inches already......This is the most protected sunfish species in North Carolina......Of a 30 fish total limit per day on sunfish, only 12 can be RBS but I release them all hoping they will do great here and get larger.....
