Welcome Allen to bigbluegill.com. This is a site with loads of information where we can learn and enjoy in doing so. We have Forums that are interesting in themselves. Feel free to read the forums they are loaded with information and above all don't be afraid to jump in and participate we are all learning we can never learn enough and what to continue in our learning process, maybe you have that little extra something that we can put in our bag of tricks to make us even a little better fisherman/fisherwoman. On this site there is lots of information which we can use to fine tune our fishing skills maybe helping us in our pursuit of catching that special little fish we call blue gill which encompasses redears and pumpkinseeds. We also have interesting bits of wisdom on perch and crappies and the list goes on, cause we all love to catch fish or we probably wouldn't be here now. We also have Blogs again loaded with information. This site is all about catching bluegills and we do that with some success but what we really want is that ultimate giant for bragging rights and you'll see there are some big gills caught. Its just a good well rounded site with loads of information with good people who don't mind sharing, we have loads of fun doing so which you will see. We also have some of the best photo's on the net here for us to look at put in by our members here at BBG. We have a video section that will keep your blood pumping and make you want to be fishing on that special lake or river fishing your heart out. (TAKE A KID FISHING) such a great high. Above all we want you to enjoy yourself don't be afraid to share some of your fishing experiences with us we would love to hear about them please don't be afraid to share your exact lakes with me with all GPS coordinates and the exact baits you used it will be my little secret I won't tell soul. We also have a Chat Room which in my opinion is very underused, but you must be log in to access it. So by all means log in and use It, you will meet some interesting and great people there who knows you may even catch me there. Enjoy, have fun but above all be safe in doing so and GOOD FISHIN..
You may know I'm looking at a float tube. I see that, like me, you are not a micro-sized man. I don't eat much tofu or bean sprouts, and I don't miss many dressings.
So, here I am 6'1" and 235#, and wondering...
"What 'tube should I get?"
If you don't object, may I ask which one so you use, or recommend for bigger chaps like us... well, me anyway?
[I'm trying to be as delicate as I can here, bear with me.]
Hey Allen -Took a look at your 100 photo slideshow today and enjoyed the pics! I see besides nice Gills and Redears on the Flyrod you get many on Spinners too .I don't catch many on spinners as I usually throw something else but I have caught some of my best Gills on a #2 Blue Fox Super Vibrax and a 3.5 Blade Joes fly.I gotta order some more spinner parts and make up my own again .What is that Gold spinner that shows up a lot in your pics .I suspect its hand assembled buy you .Is it?
All the best ,John
oh BTW I would like to see more pics of your large Catfish captures!
Allen, I got my copy of, "The Book of Fly Patterns," by Eric Leiser. To my nimrod eyes, it is very thorough and conciseOf you don't have it, I recommend it.
PS I got it used from alibris.com 6$, shipped. It's the 1993 version and isn't really internet savvy. Aside from that, it's golden.
Thank you Allen for accepting the invite. Carl Hendricks told me I should befriend you. We were talking fly tying when it come up. I am a muddling beginner at best. Been tying about a year off and on, mostly jigs though...once again thank you Sir....
Allen, I've added you as a friend. I'll contact you tonight after I get back in from Church if that is ok. I pastor a Church in Athens, AL and I have a real busy day today. Thanks for accepting me as your friend and look forward to "gleaming" from your knowledge of Big Blue Gill!.
