Vintage Equipment Group

I know this sounds strange, but vintage equipment like fiberglass rods still have a place! We can talk shop and discuss why some vintage gear is just as good (if not better) than the new stuff.

Wow. Great finds. Don't go to flea markets around here. You tend to catch fleas instead of bargains.

  • dick tabbert

Great Stuff Jim I remember it all, maybe I shouldn't have said that.

  • jim cosgrove

the little spoons are pflueger pippins.the aluminum fly box is made in japan, when they were still rebuilding and produced more simple things.it is a great little fly box has some old flies in it.i like the little metal clips that hold the flies.i also picked up 3 wonderods over the summer.gonna bring em out to tooty.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

SHAKESPEARE 6' TELESCOPING RODS, JUST FOUND EM THE OTHER DAY WHEN  I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE..

  • dick tabbert

Tooty with all them rods over there I'm surprised you can fined anything at least I wouldn't be able to.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

HERE'S A PAIR OF OLD L&S PLUNKERS I RECENTLY GOT . THE TOP ONE WITH THE GLITTER SIDES IS CALLED "WHITE FLASH" COLOR AND THE BOTTOM ORANGE ONE IS CALLED GOLD FISH .... BOTH ARE NEAR MINT AND WOULD ACTUALLY CALL THE TOP ONE MINT IN BOX..

  • Rick King

    Very nice Tooty

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

HERE'S SOME VINTAGE STUFF PICKED UP FROM JIMMY COSGROVE , WHEN HE CAME HERE LAST FEW WEEKS AGO.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

THE REEL IS A OLDER 308 MITCHELL ULTRA LIGHT, VVVVVVERY CLOSE TO MINT , AND THE ROD IS A 5' SHAKESPEARE WONDEROD WITH CERAMIC GUIDES . MODEL 1800 . SPOSE THIS ONE MADE IN LATE 70'S AND IS ACTUALLY THE NEWEST Wonderod in my collection. Very light weight ... will use it soon with a Vintage Dam Quick Reel model 110 . No not the new 110 N but the old vintage 110. Can't wait to see them when they start arriving.

Most folk never heard of Alcedo Micron's , made in Italy, or the Old Quick's made in Gernany. They were both considered the best in their years for mmmmmany years and were both built like tanks inside and out ......

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

THIS REEL IS A VINTAGE DAM QUICK ,MADE IN GERMANY BOUT LATE 50'S MAYBE. IT'S A MODEL 110 AND THE 110 N models came in the late 60's I believe, and think I still have one more of these coming and will do a pic on em both together. For their size they were heavy compared to modern stuff , TOUGH AS NAILS HOWEVER AND THIS ONE FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY AFTER 50+ YEARS OF USE....

  • dick tabbert

I had a Dam Quick once but I think the reel was enclosed I can't quit remember, one of them senior moments.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

Ya I"ve seen those Dick and looked rrrrrrrreally heavy duty for sure......

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

Over the years it's been a hobby, and passion , of mine to collect some pretty nice stuff when it comes to vintage tackle.. Christmas came this morning in TROY GROVE...
A PAIR OF QUICK 110 REELS , VERY NICE CONDITION 100% MECHANICALLY WORKING

THE TOP ROD IS A 5' ONE PIECE "EMERALD GREEN" TRANSLUCENT SOMEWHAT , ULTRA LIGHT.
MIDDLE ROD A MODEL 1800 "BACK COUNTRY SPECIAL" 5'10" MADE IN THE 70'S , CLOSE TO MINT AND WOULD BE IF NOT FOR SOMEONE CLEANING IT AND RUBBING SOME OF THE NUMBERS OFF , STILL VERY NICE THOUGH
AND LASTLY A "HIPPIE" THERES WERE COLLAPSIBLE RODS THAT WENT DOWN TO 24" AND YA COULD CARRY EM IN YOUR BACK POCKET. THIS ONE NEAR MINT ALSO ..

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

WRONG AGAIN. TOP ONE IS THE BACK COUNTRY AND MIDDLE IS THE EMERALD GREEN..

  • John Sheehan

Ol' Burke .I have a bunch of of the 'Life Likes' (insects, Nymhs, and Larvae) Haven't used them much ,but Summers the time .Anyone here have success using these? Scroll down thru this 1972 Burke Catalog and enjoy visiting your childhood again!  http://www.antiquefishinglures.com/burke.htm

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

GOT THIS OLD WRIGHT & MC GILL , and thought maybe someone would like to see pics of it ......... made in late 50's or early 60's I think... Very nice shape and appears to be only used a few times , if that.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

FORGOT IT'S a 8 1/2 footer and probably a 5 weight , at least that's what if feels like to me........

  • jim cosgrove

not a wonderod?just kidding tooty.nice find.vintage gear hunting has been a little slow for me.

  • John Sheehan

Especially for Tooty ,an old Herters catalog my brother just got :

  • Vic Tankersley

Keith, this I've had for years it's a model sixty side spin Johnson.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

HERE'S a couple old Shakespeare Marhoff reels . Mr . Marhoff worked for Bill Shakespeare and invented the level wind mechanism still used on bait casters today.....

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

The old Marhoff on the left is mint in the box in my estimation anyway . The plastic boxes these came in are the rarest of all cause the eventually broke from being dropped etc. The old card board boxes on the right were the norm ...

  • John Sheehan

    Real fine looking Reels Tooty!

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

    THANKS JOHN .....

  • jim cosgrove

  • Keith Ritter

I've heard Tooty talk about Wonder Rods so when I came across this one I snapped it up. Maybe the guru will see this and tell me about.

  • Keith Ritter

  • Keith Ritter

    Wonder Rod

  • jim cosgrove

tooty can tell you everything about this rod .he gave me some papers that explain all the letters and numbers.line weights types even when it was made.these were cutting edge tech in their day.ugly stiks are still made the same way

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

HEY KIETH THAT ROD WAS MADE IN FEB. 1970

  • Keith Ritter

I got it for 23 bucks. Is that a good price? It has one eye that is bent but not broken and a few scratches. The cork is perfect and looks like it never had a reel mounted on it.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

Some more old rods folks ......HOPE YA LIKE EM!
