Fishing for Smallmouth Bass in Rivers
Actually all species are welcome here as long as it swims in a river.This August 2012 I've been hunting for Smallmouth Bass in a local River ,the Ramapo ,and want to learn more about this adversary in their River homes.Nothing wrong with catching any fish that swims while trying to capture the feistiest fish in the river .Besides Smallies the Ramapo has offered up small but beautiful Red Breasted Sunfish,Crappie ,Largemouth Bass, Rock Bass, Creek Chubs,Bluegill,Pumpkinseeds and Stocked Trout !Quite an assortment ! I hope those that enjoy the exercise and activity of walking the river banks and wading the water will share their joy and knowledge of fishing this way ! Leave no fishing line or garbage behind to disgust thoughtful appreciators of the outdoors!

I really want to fish Rivers again from a boat Mark . I 've only fished the Delaware a few times for Smallies from a canoe . Most of my local River fishing is actually small creek like water from shore and wading . Thanks for the tips ! What Maine Rivers do you fish .That's where you're from?

Hi John,Yes I live in Maine the mid coast area I'm about 12 miles from the ocean, the Kennebec river is behind my house abt 1/8 mile. I fish the Androscoggin which drains into the Kennebec in Merrymeeting Bay some others drain into it. I fished the andro below the dam and above it, the flies I use are the jawbreaker and hans hans rabbit strip jig they both are on you tube. their not my patterns, I have caught 100's of fish on these flies I hope this helps you out Mark

Mark- I love Maine , hope to fish the Androscoggin and Kennebec Rivers someday . I have never fished those flies , maybe some day though .! All the best pal !
