I have a couple creeks that are just full of chunky Warmouth and it's a great time when you add a few of these guys to your creel! This is another fish that I want to get up to Tim for a masterpiece!
Thanks Dwayne, My dad and Grandfather were always partial to the Warmouth and they are often overlooked in the South compared to their cousin the Bluegill.....We actually have a couple spots that produce whopper warmouth on the bigger bass size popping bugs and shiners....Alot of fun!
That's a solid fish Musky.....I was wondering how prolific the species was up north but judging from this fish they're doing just fine! Thanks for sharing.........
I'm digging for some of my older photos David, I've caught some beautiful Warmouth on the Edisto and the cypress creeks off the Santee River......I have hundreds of Polaroids that just don't scan very well but technology is always getting better so I hope to add many more in the future...
pic quality isnt great but here are my 2 biggest warmouth, caught at the satilla river, off the same stump 5 years ago. left-1lb7oz, right-1lb1oz. shouldve put em on the wall
Some of the best panfish taxidermy I've ever seen is by members of this site Tomas.....I'm definitely going to get some panfish done in the next few years.....Nice Warmouth....Georgia represented well!
Got to love it when the Goggle-eyes are big enough to filet......It was difficult to find these fish on the overwhelming 188 thousand acre Toledo Bend but you could sackem' up once you did and some nice ones!
Looking forward to the Warmouth waking up as well....Caught a few small ones down in Louisiana last month during my visit....I also added a chart showing the range of the Warmouth.....
thanks jeffrey, the ones around here seem to be more solitary and very territorial.seem to like really rocky areas.they hit hard and i am always amazed when i catch one as they fight hard and i always think it is a much larger fish.i like the way they tremble in your hand when you are unhooking them.i catch them on large top water plugs like zara spooks and the tiniest flies.never catch more than 1 or 2 at a time.we have rock bas up here and i think they inbreed some with wramouths as i have caught some strange looking fish at times.
The Warmouth are a species that like a little warmer conditions but they are starting to move a little bit down in South Carolina where most of the water temperatures in the Low Country exceed 70 degrees......I caught these fish in tight to wood in rather shallow water on Live crickets.....Always a good time to add a few Goggle-eye Perch to your creel....
This beauty attacked a soft plastic bubble-gum colored grub with a live cricket added.....This guy really popped when he got out of the water....The water temperatures are getting in a range that big Warmouth love....Can't wait to find a cluster......
Had several nice Warmouth in my Perquimans River creel today....They hit the honey hole pink/white curly tail grub tipped with live crickets...Water was down several feet from the winds so these fish had pulled back off shore some....Water temps have dropped almost ten degrees from last weekend down to 68. As the water continues to warm we'll start catching more chunky Warmouth....Good time!
