FL Panhandle Bream Busters

Bluegill

Would lkie to join Fl Panhandle Bream Busters

Hello, my name is Harry A. Lamey in Biloxi, Ms. and would like to join the Fl Panhandle Bream Busters. We are not that far away from each other and looks like we share the same type of fishing. I fish for bluegill only with a fly rod and am a avid fly tier. Would like to hook up with some one and discuss the in and outs of fishing in your area. Would like to extend the invitation for the members to come down to my neck of the woods and fish my waters on the Tchoutacabouffa and west Pascagoula rivers with me. Fishing on the Tchoutacabouffa River is fair to good while the west Pascagoula river is good to excellent. Let me know how to contact a member or two for a phone conversation and maybe a field trip to your area. Thanks, Harry

Hi Harry, welcome to our small group.  There is not a lot of activity here as you can see but we area always open to meeting new anglers and sharing information.

I have heard of the bream fishing on the West Pascagoula rivers over the years. A late friend of mine who lives in Pensacola had a camp on the river decades ago and he used to talk about all the big gills and shellcrackers he caught over over there.

I'm primarily a bream and crappie guy but do fish saltwater from time to time for speckled trout, redfish, and mullet.  My river is the Choctawhatchee. It's know for it's good bream fishery.  Last spring was the best we have had in many, many, years. I'm ready for a change for the past few weeks the catching has been really poor.

I fly fish from time to time with #8 and #10 popping bugs, I guess because that's what most people use around here. We see a few fly guys on the river but during the spring and summer the primary bait is crickets first and worms second. I know a couple of guy that mostly fly fish but I don't know actually what their luck might be. I assume they do well for they continue to use a fly rod.

Get in touch in April and I can bring up to date on what's going on over here.
