Dolbear's Law:
Because crickets chirp at a different rate of speed, depending on the temperature outside, it is possible to calculate the temperature in Fahrenheit degrees by counting the number of times a United States snowy tree cricket chirps in 15 seconds and then adding the number 40. This formula is referred to as "Dolbear's Law."

Today's strange fact:
Crickets do not produce chirps by rubbing their legs together. They have on each front wing a sharp edge, the scraper, and a file like ridge, the file. They chirp by elevating the front wings and moving them so the scaper of one wing rubs on the file of the other wing, making a chirp.

The statement below shows how this site changed the boogeman and a hold lot of other people out look at bluegills. Before I found this site, they were bass bait.Boogeman how true are these words

I've been a member about 15 months now and I check in several times daily. I even went fishing about 1pm yesterday, so not only do I like to talk about it but I actually do it too! I caught some nice coppernose yesterday and released them all. Prior to joning this site, I would not have let them go. My point is that reading about the experiences and thoughts of different people on the future of bluegilling has made me more aware of what I really fish for. It's the hunt! I keep all I want to clean for eating and freezing. We do have big fish frys from time to time and I am the supplier and fryer. But yesterday, I just wanted to relax and catch some bluegills. I purposefully left my camera at home, never measured or weighed one and didn't even think about cleaning any. Tomorrow, I may keep the limit, but yesterday I threw back about 12 nice 'uns. Sixteen months ago, I would never have considered that. Either I'm just getting lazier, or Big Bluegill.com and these discussions have changed my thinking!

Try this to change profile pic:
1. find a picture you like online
2. click on the picture and upload to desktop
3. on BBG, select my page (no, YOUR page)
4. click on change profile photo
5. click on browse
6. click on desktop
7. find the picture you want and click on it
8. click open
9. click on save at the bottom of page

please let me know if this works and I'll put it on how to, if something has been left out, let me know that too, thanks

As long as this forum exists, Boogieman will be here. If I ever figger out how to change my profile picture, I'll make it a cricket. That would have to look better than what I have now, anyway! :-D

I can’t agree more. This site was setup to share information on bluegills. But any social site where people meet and be-friend people on site, a bond between them can not but be formed. At the same time people really don’t want to put their problem out so everyone can see. There are several options that we can us on this site. Private Messages are the best tool we can use to talk about issues that are not site related. Now I’m not even going to say that any of us are anywhere near the Opera in giving out personal advice. But I have over the pass 60 year been down many hard roads. All any of us can say “ I did it this way” I really care about this site and the people on this site.
As we get months and year on this site, the net is starts getting smaller around us bring us closer and closer together.

You ain't the only one that looks at the forum in that light, Rick. Most of my best friends come from forums like this, and I considered Boog to be one of them. We never managed to actually get face to face, but we talked about it a lot, here, via email, and by telephone. Like most folks, we thought we had plenty of time. We shouldn't let that happen again.
