I caught three today, they looked just like those, so I guess they were hybrid too. One 5" one 3" and one 2" Going to try to take a picture of the 5" er tomorrow, the little ones were too small to even keep in the cage.

thank I was going to start fertilizinf next month Here are some pictures of the hybird blue grill. Man they grow well since September.

Hey Walt,
Good advice and will try that myself. I usually have a pretty good plankton bloom, but I'm still a novice at this and appreciate all the advice I can get from you guys that know about these things. Thanks again

Rick, if you're feeding I would advise against grass carp because they'll eat the heck out of your pellet food and eventually, when they get big, will keep the bluegill from getting much of it; I'm dealing with this right now with a four-acre pond I manage. There are huge (40-lb.+) grass carp in it, and they literally knock the bluegill out of the way with big slaps of their tails so they can hog all of the food.

All you need to do to keep the weeds from growing is fertilize once monthly March through October; you may need to apply twice in March, but once you get a decent plankton bloom going (looks like you have a little bit of one already) the sunlight won't be able to penetrate through the water and the weeds will die. And, your fish will grow faster due to a better food chain.

Rick, my grandparents lived on Caddo Lake and he gave me my love for fishing. Especially for bream. Passsing it on to my grandkids is the ultimate for me. My wife loves to fish too and especially loves to be there at feeding time to watch all the fish come up to feed. We bought this place, mainly for the ponds and the acreage for a place for the grandkids to play. We have an in ground swimming pool for them, and Sudays are BBQ, swim, fish, and play days in the summer around here. I bought a Kawasaki Mule they love to drive and to get us around the property. Thank you agaain for the site here and the welcome.

Hi Rick,
This last summer two of my grandkids came over and fished for about three or four hours, hollered at me, (Gran Gran come clean our fish). I pulled up the basket and cleaned 211 bream they had caught. We had a big fish fry for the whole family, 10 adults and 8 granchildren. What a great day that was.....

Rick, thank you for the welcome and I, too, had that problem with the moss. I bought four grass carp and put them in my pond and it seems to have cured the problem. My carp, now, are about a foot long and come up when I feed the fish. They really made a difference in my pond. good luck.

Thanks for joining our group. Your pond and mine have the same facture our grandkids. As you see in some of our post my pond right now the bass hit everything. I also buy and stock the flathead minnow and keep a lb in a fish tank for the kid to use for bait, To hear these little one yell papa I got one makes my day.
My next question is weed control. I use a algazid to keed the alge under control but there is some weed and I guess moss starting to gown along the bottom on the pond. I don't want to add any hebazid thatI hear will harm my fish. What about adding grass carp? No bigger then my pond 1 or 2 should keed it under control
Need feed back. Ain't doing nothing until I hear from you guys lol
