I haven't been into walleye fishing specifically very often. I have fished them on Lake Eerie with friends where we got into quite a few. Fun fish to catch. We were catching them on the bottom with something similar to a bucktail jig.

This year I've got a couple small and very remote lakes within an hour or some of my place that I look forward to launching my kayak in. These lakes are rumored to have walleye in them. Should be fun.

Welcome Jason Preslar, , look forward to your input .I'd like to see this group grow . I have a few opportunities nearby my home here in NENJ to catch Walleye and enjoy the challenge .The Monksville Reservoir and Greenwood Lake are two waters minutes from me that hold some real good sized Walleyes. The Delaware River an Hour or so west  of here also holds them .

Great input and new info for me ,thanks Allen!

Carl- My Walleye catches have been incidental  here in NJ but successfully targeted in NY state on one trip . I want to learn how to target and catch them as I do have Walleye Lake and River water nearby .

John, yep, a Saugeye is the hybrid of the two.  I've heard of a 24" Saugeye out of that one lake I fish.  OK State record Saugeye was a 10 lbs even fish, 28 1/4" long w/ 19" girth.  World Record Saugeye was a 12 lbs 13 oz fish from Clendening Reservoir, Ohio.
