Hey guys, I am waiting for cold weather and ice season, but considering that seems like it may be a while in Nebraska, I think I am going to break the float tube back out again. I bought a Humminbird Ice 35 flasher for ice fishing that I want to try to use on my float tube for vertical jigging. Has anyone else done this? Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Does anyone carry a Canoe blade (Not a Paddle) when they float tube. I was thinking it could come in very handy in the event one loses a fin and is a considerable distance from shore?

I was thinking the blade would work much better than the standard paddle. Any ideas appreciated.

And… Yes I always Tether my fins but just in case...

Thanks

I have not fished lake Perris from a float tube since they lowered the water several years ago.

I always launched my tube from Bernasconi Beach but that seams like an impossibility now. I know the Road still enters the water at Bernasconi but I'm not sure if they still let you launch from there. If they do… what time do they lock the gates?

Would love any input from regular PerrisTubers regarding the above and also with options they feel would be beneficial. Sail Cove…

Particularly interested in the East end of the Lake… I never tubed there but see a lot of guys fishing it. Rock Climbers was always my favorite spot… Alas it doesn't exist anymore since the lowering of the water.

Also noted some discussion on what make of tube is best. My old one was a Caddis U Boat type… did the job but was hard work… looking for something that would make it a bit easier on my old knees. any input appreciated.

Does anyone have any ideas or plans for a float tube rod holder for the old style flyrod and reel set up where the rod does NOT have a rod butt sticking out beyond the reel seat? I'm trying to plan out how to make one out of PVC for my old Fenwick fiberglass flyrods. Most newer rods have a 2" bit of rod butt that will work in most holders. I also want to have it up at a 45% angle for trolling. Anybody?

-Seams coming apart

-Offset trolling motor block is awkward to reach compared to a center-mounted one and the offset makes it possible for the trolling motor blades to cut into the tube (could that possibly be true?!?!) if a person is inattentive

-Low-quality oarlocks easily break or slip

-Built-in transport wheel is difficult to use, stow, and balance the boat on

If you have or have had a Colorado XT, what is your take on those complaints?

A comparably priced pontoon with about the same features include the Creek Company Super Sport XR1 (doesn't seem to have a transport wheel, though). If you have used that one (or, ideally, both), which do you think is better?

Final question: if you use a trolling motor on your pontoon, do you still wear fins, or just wading boots or water shoes?

Thanks!

A) Order a new bladder

B) Replace it with a low-cost pontoon boat, which has the advantage of being able to put my trolling motor on the rear deck. I think I know what Leo will say to that one already :-)

Just curious as to what the different members take out on their float tubes to munch on and drink while you are out there for several hours. I love the tins of smoked baby oysters and crackers, but they are messy if you are not careful, with the oil they are packed in. Then you have to carefully put the empty can into a ziplock bag to throw in the trash later. I always end up getting that oil on my tube or on me. And if you spill any overboard, it makes an oil slick that follows you…
