Do you love big bluegill?

Made my first trip with spoons this weekend.It took me alittle while to find the right combination for the area I was fishing but after that I had a blast.Thanks Bill.I was unsure about how to fish them so I chose this outing with my wife to give them an  try. I knew we were on fish as she was wacking them pretty good with a jig.This gave me the confidence to keep working the spoons.We were catching pre spawn males in 8-10 fow. Water temp was 67 deg. here in wi.

Steve, good to hear you building some confidence with this approach. Rock lake?....We had great success on Delavan last weekend chucking spoons, also in 8-10 fow.

The 1/10 oz Swedish Pimple was extremely effective.

I dont think South Carolina brim like spoons. Havent hit a one yet with them.
Yes Bill we were on Rock.David the reason I chose to work on spoons Sat. was I knew where the fish were and I had my wife in the front of the boat catching them. That gave me the confidence to work it out.Watching her pull 8's and 9's for a half hour without a bite wasn't fun but in the end it was worth it.
It may help to have a boat, too, so you can go to where they ARE. If Im flingin' a spoon, it's from whatever shore access I can manage. No fish - no bites.
There was an article in In-Fisherman about this...pretty neat idea..I've got to try it

I haven't used spoons in Pre-spawn, but have in late fall when the gills move deep ( 20 + ft  ) it is an awesome bite vertically jigging !Are you tipping the spoons with anything?
