Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

It didn't start out that good. Back to Derby Pond, but a slow morning. I only managed 2 Yellow Perch, 3 Crappies, 2 8" Gills and 2 Mill Roaches. The winds were about 15 MPH. And then my trolling motor battery began to weaken. I almost made it back to the ramp before it died completely.
I should have known it was failing as it was still taking half a charge after being plugged in for 24 hours.
Bought a new battery ( a painful $86) and decided to try another new (to me) Delaware pond, McGinnis Lake. Had a good afternoon until the wind got worse and chased me home. I caught 1 tiny Bass, dozens of Crappie, and a couple of dozen Bluegills (of all sizes) including a few 8.5" plus specimens. This lake is a bit bigger and deeper than Derby and it had allot of submerged wood and brush piles.

Nice report. Photos?

This time I did remember my camera. Unfortunately, like the trolling motor my camera battery was dead. It looks like cold and rain this Wednesday in Md./Del. If not, I'll be out with full batteries!

Been there, done that. Just make sure you don't suffer my faith where the main and spare batteries end up in the bottom of the lake.

Yeah, batteries don' t make very good artificial reefs!
