I was drawn to Joe's Flies by my interest for fishing trout in the North Carolina mountains. They were small but I could still cast them well enough on my 5' spinning gear set up (it was really a crappie rod). They are nice for a number of reasons, you can quick change the fly's on the spinners, you can use any fly on the spinner and of course it caught any kind of fish in the stream. I targeted trout but I caught plenty of b-gill and smallies on it as well. The only thing I recomend is to practice and see how it casts on the rod you plan to use. If you don't need to cast more than 10 yards for small stream situations then you should be fine, but if you need to cast farther some weight would need to be added. Also, you can fly fish with these but it takes some getting use too as they are not too friendly for the fly rod. Hope this helps and good luck!
