I have a 6' 2wt and I just love it. It is a TFO Signature and I have over lined it with a DT. This is the only DT line I own. I have caught up to 3# smallies on it. Haven't fished my 5wt for 2 years. Wished I could find some small to medium carp to try out. If I ever buy another small rod it will be a 0wt. I put off buying a real lite rod because of the general conversation about not being able to cast anything but real small flies. Don't believe it. I cast up to size 6 flies with beadchain…

I put off buying a real lite rod because of the general conversation about not being able to cast anything but real small flies. Don't believe it. I cast up to size 6 flies with beadchain eyes and small lead eyes with no problem. Unweighted streamers up to size 2. Poppers up to 3/8" cast fine though I mostly use 1/4" because that is what works best in the small creeks I fish. Get that 2 or 3 wt and you won't regret it. The correct line will make it come alive and you will be surprised how far you can cast it when needed.
You will love fishing gills o…tag:bigbluegill.ning.com,2013-01-25:2036984:Comment:3456682013-01-25T19:40:52.803ZCraig Stocktonhttp://bigbluegill.ning.com/profile/CraigStockton

You will love fishing gills on a 3, taken a number of the guys on one. I just got a G'loomis 8'8" GLX whispercreek, man what fun. My first fish was a 16" Brown on the E. Walker River in Calif. Almost bent that rod to the handle, looking forward to hooking some 'giils on it.

All my rods are TFO and I never fish for bluegill on anything larger than a 3 wt! The fight is awesome particularly when you get into redear. Plus TFO is guaranteed for life!

I just picked up a spinning rod made from a 2wt fly rod blank. It was made by Walt Foreman. My goal for the rod...among other things...was for me to have more fun when I get into nests of 6 inch Gills. I could have a lot of fun with my UL rod with the fast tip but I just wanted something......as Greg put it....more funner....LOL.

First, I wish to say hello to all as I am a newbie. Now to the question. Ok..yes there is a difference. However, IF you are fishing around lillies, timber, weeds, etc., you may have problems controlling a bigger bluegill. I've fished a 2 wt. I prefer my 5
